Guarnaschelli began her culinary instruction by watching her prepare cookbooks, and testing recipes. The first time she was exposed to cooking, she observed her mother testing recipes at home as she edited cookbooks. Guarnaschelli eventually became the executive chef at Butter. Guarnaschelli is a Food Network Iron Chef America contestant who competed against Cat Cora for the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 in Iron Chef America. After appearing as a Judge on the Program the show in 2011, Guarnaschelli took part in The Next Iron Chef's fourth season wherein she placed third. She competed and lost in one episode of Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. In the fourth series of The Next Iron Chef, she was hired as a sous chef for Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.
